HUMANITIES IN ACTION Dean connects the classroom to the world through our Humanities in Action initiative, preparing our liberal arts students for fulfilling careers. Students create resume-worthy products for their classes such as digital magazines, museum exhibits and documentaries. This work then feeds into co-curricular activities such as historic preservation, film screenings, readings, and conference presentations throughout the region. THE BUSINESS OF DOING Students in our Dean R. Sanders ’47 School of Business don’t just learn about key marketing and operations concepts from a textbook, they get hands-on experience by doing the work. Collaborating with local businesses, students focus on actual strategies and solutions—and get invaluable feedback from experts in the field. Past projects have included proposing plans to drive Major League Soccer subscriptions, developing a volunteer plan for the Army/Navy game at Gillette Stadium, and creating program ideas for a festival at a major entertainment and shopping complex.
“My professors at Dean really invested time in developing my skills and providing mentorship. I was invited to assist my psychology professor in a research project that was ultimately presented at a professional conference and submitted for publication. I also conducted my own original research for my senior capstone project and I collaborated with an academic journal for a career exploration assignment. That same journal hired me as an editor after I graduated, primarily because I was fully prepared for the role due to the Dean Career Advantage . ” KATIE PAN K.
