Let’s go fly a kite! The oldest children’s kite festival in the United States is about to fly for its 71st year. Kids ages 0 to 102 are invited to see the skies filled with hundreds of colorful kites. Build your own kite, bring one from the store, or just come watch the dazzling tricks of professional kite fliers. This is a fabulous day of fun where everyone gets to be a kid again. Mexico Gourmet Festival Where: Embarcadero Marina Park South, San Diego When: Saturday, June 1; 5–9 p.m. Admission: $39.50–$115 Website: Bit.ly/MexicoGourmetFestival2019 Do you really have to go south of the border for the best Mexican food? Not during the Mexico Gourmet Festival. For one day only, chefs from San Diego and Mexico will compete in a culinary competition to create the best dish. This tribute to Mexican gastronomy, traditions, and art will also include appearances by celebrity chefs, wine and tequila tastings, live music, and plenty of great food. Come hungry and ready to enjoy all the delicious flavors Mexico is known for.
