GEORGE MASON REGIONAL LIBRARY BOOK SALE Where: Annandale, VA, George Mason Regional Library When: Sept. 27-30

At the end of the month, you’ll not want to miss this giant sale! There will be thousands of options for everyone in the family, including picture books, reading list materials, sheet music, and fiction and non-fiction books of all genres. Hours will vary depending on the day. On Sunday, the last day of the sale, everything will be half-priced—come in to grab your treasures before they’re gone! The best part about the event is that it’s free to participate. Come and browse the selections to your heart’s desire.

DEADMAN’S RUN Where: Historic Congressional Cemetery, 1808 E St. SE When: Oct. 6, 6 p.m.

October brings the prospect of Halloween and, for some people, it’s never too early to celebrate! At the beginning of next month, join your fellow racers as they run through the Congressional Cemetery and down along the Anacostia Trail. The evening will be filled with frights — try to outrun the Grim Reaper while haunting music urges you on. The race consists of a 5K and a Kids Fun Run, complete with prizes. There will be a prize for the best costume and team costume, and after the event, join our older racers in the beer tent. Tickets for the 5K are $40 and $10 for the Kids Fun Run. All proceeds will go toward this national historic landmark.

If you’re looking for some great events to go to this month, here are a few that will catch your eye.

BECKETT’S CELTIC FESTIVAL Where: Samuel Beckett’s Irish Gastro Pub, 2800 South Randolph Street #110 When: Sept. 15, 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Coming back for its fifth year, the annual Celtic Festival will be shutting down Campbell Avenue to make way for eager guests. Attendees will experience dancers, live music, food and drink, and pipers both inside and outside of the pub. Anyone is welcome to come and enjoy the Celtic festivities for free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the bar.
