We take immense pride in our track record of providing each and every one of our apprentices with high-quality apprenticeships that will set them on the path to a successful career. Our commitment to excellence in technical education is reflected in the achievements of our apprentices, helping them to be ready to make meaningful contributions in their chosen industries. Central to our college success are the long- standing relationships that we have established with employers. From the self-employed and 'Small to Medium Enterprises', to large corporate and international organisations, these partnerships are the cornerstone of our apprenticeship programmes, ensuring that our curriculum remains relevant, responsive, innovative, and aligned with the evolving needs of our local businesses. As well as these relationships, our core values in aspiration, inclusivity, support, integrity and accountability underpin everything we do. These values inform our teaching, support interactions with our apprentices and employers, and ensure a commitment to creating an environment where everyone can thrive and succeed. As you look through this course guide, I encourage you to read about (and watch) the many apprentices who are thriving in their apprenticeship, many of whom were once in your position and taking their first step into an

apprenticeship. The videos will give you a small insight into their day-to-day life as an apprentice, as they explain their journeys and how this educational pathway will shape their futures. Please also take note of the employers with whom we are so proud to work, as they talk about the value that apprentices bring to their workplace, but equally the support and value they offer to their apprentices within their organisations. So, whether you are leaving school or college and are considering embarking on a new apprenticeship, or if you’re an adult looking to change your career though an apprenticeship, or simply looking to upskill in your current job role, we have an apprenticeship programme for you.

LEVEL 2 ACCOUNTS OR FINANCE ASSISTANT

Embarking on an apprenticeship in Accounting is a smart move towards a rewarding and stable career in finance. It offers a blend of practical experience and theoretical knowledge, which is essential for success in the industry. Whether you aspire to work for an accounting firm, a multi-national corporation, or a not-for-profit organisation, the skills and expertise you will gain during your apprenticeship will prepare you for success in roles such as an accountant, auditor, financial analyst, or management accountant. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will have the opportunity to apply accounting principles in real-life situations, using your analytical skills and attention to detail, whilst developing a solid understanding of how businesses operate financially.

On the Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant apprenticeship, you’ll build a foundation of accounting knowledge and hands-on skills for supporting a finance function. You will learn to record transactional data accurately, use accounting software, assist with reconciliations, and contribute to routine financial processes such as sales and purchase ledgers, and bank statement matching. You’ll also develop core professional behaviours such as attention to detail, effective communication, prioritisation, and working within a team in a business context. Over a typical 12-14 month period, with both on- the-job and off-the-job training, you will prepare for an apprenticeship assessment, and be well positioned to progress onto a Level 3 accounting role. On completion of this apprenticeship you will received a recognised AAT qualification. LEVEL 3 ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT On the Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship, you’ll build the technical skills and knowledge needed to support a

Whilst working at Rushtons I’ve gained hands-on experience and I’ve worked with clients. I’ve only been here a few months and I’ve got five or six clients that I’m doing VAT returns for. Watch Leigha describe her Team Leader apprenticeship

“The leadership course was the next step for me, so that I could broaden my knowledge of my role. I’m really enjoying it. It’s very different from any of the other courses I have done. The last apprenticeship I did was 12 years ago in dental nursing, so it’s all very new, but my tutor has been brilliant. Because it’s 1:1 and not in a class, my tutor can work around me, and I use the adult library and come into college once a month on my admin day. Once I’ve finished this apprenticeship, I’m going to look into progressing onto a higher-level programme." LEIGHA Team Leader apprentice at St Annes Dental Clinic

“I wanted to go to university, but then my A Levels didn’t go to plan, so I started looking elsewhere and when I saw this apprenticeship I just applied and I’ve loved it since. I’ve built good friendships and love the dental side too. This apprenticeship is ideal because if you find it easier to study from home, you can. There’s also plenty of opportunity to progress, and in the future, I would like to complete more courses and continue gaining qualifications." CHLOE
