WELCOME
As Principal, it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Preston College. We are one of Lancashire’s leading apprenticeship training providers, welcoming over five hundred apprentices onto programmes each year across a full range of industry sectors. We take immense pride in our track record of providing each and every one of our apprentices with high-quality apprenticeships that will set them on the path to a successful career. Our commitment to excellence in technical education is reflected in the achievements of our apprentices, helping them to be ready to make meaningful contributions in their chosen industries. Central to our college success are the long- standing relationships that we have established with employers. From the self-employed and 'Small to Medium Enterprises', to large corporate and international organisations, these partnerships are the cornerstone of our apprenticeship programmes, ensuring that our curriculum remains relevant, responsive, innovative, and aligned with the evolving needs of our local businesses. As well as these relationships, our core values in aspiration, inclusivity, support, integrity and accountability underpin everything we do. These values inform our teaching, support interactions with our apprentices and employers, and ensure a commitment to creating an environment where everyone can thrive and succeed. As you look through this course guide, I encourage you to read about (and watch) the many apprentices who are thriving in their apprenticeship, many of whom were once in your position and taking their first step into an
apprenticeship. The videos will give you a small insight into their day-to-day life as an apprentice, as they explain their journeys and how this educational pathway will shape their futures. Please also take note of the employers with whom we are so proud to work, as they talk about the value that apprentices bring to their workplace, but equally the support and value they offer to their apprentices within their organisations. So, whether you are leaving school or college and are considering embarking on a new apprenticeship, or if you’re an adult looking to change your career though an apprenticeship, or simply looking to upskill in your current job role, we have an apprenticeship programme for you.
