MATHS AND ENGLISH
To increase your chances of securing an apprenticeship, we recommend aiming for a Grade 4 or higher in both maths and English. In some instances, a science GCSE may also be required for some of the apprenticeship programmes. Please check our website for individual apprenticeship requirements. IF YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THE REQUIRED GRADES: If you have achieved your maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) you can start your apprenticeship, as long as you have an employer in place. If you do not have an employer yet, don’t worry, you can still be considered for the apprenticeship vacancies that become available directly through the College and we can help you source an employer. IF YOU HAVE NOT YET ACHIEVED THE REQUIRED GRADES: If you have not yet achieved your maths and English GCSE (after GCSE results day) and, depending on the specific apprenticeship you are interested in, you may need to complete a maths and/or English assessment. We can then support you in terms of achieving your maths and English alongside your apprenticeship. Alternatively, you may wish to consider enrolling onto a full-time college course in a related field. Once eligible, you can switch to an apprenticeship. For personalised advice and guidance, please contact the Apprenticeship Team by calling 01772 225768 or email appsinfo@preston.ac.uk
Please note - some areas will require you to have achieved maths and/or English at Grade C/4 or above prior to you starting your apprenticeship. Our team will be happy to help you.
