He has proved to be an inspiration to both his college peers and course tutors and has developed a passion for the trade, which has allowed his talents to flourish. “On this course I have found something I love to do and I am loving the journey – it’s just like joining a big family!”
JOSEPHINE GCSE ENGLISH Josephine is currently working as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant in a local primary school and enrolled on the GCSE English course to open up further opportunities in her career. Planning to become a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in the future, Josephine says “This course has not only helped me to better my education, it has also helped me to believe in myself. I urge anybody [that does not have an English qualification] to try again, as having it will help improve your future prospects – believe and you will achieve!”
ANDREW EDUCATION AND TRAINING LEVEL 3 Andrew enrolled on this course as part of his new role in Emergency Planning. Joining a supportive learning environment, with other learners from different learning backgrounds, was an element of the course he found particularly enjoyable. On completion of his course, Andrew plans to continue to develop his skills in his new role, which includes developing a training programme and may also consider moving into teaching as a future career. “I have learnt some interesting ways to create more engaging teaching sessions, focusing more on interaction with the audience to encourage and enhance learning outcomes. The tutors are student focused and the diverse range of teaching methods they use are very engaging.”
