NOTE: The compressed air source must be free of oil (and water). Oil (and water) will cause premature failure of the cartridge filters. 7.5 Sm oke Detection/Fir e Suppression (OPTIONAL)

NOTE: All of the smoke detection/fire suppression installation must be performed by a qualified technician and in accordance with local, state, and national codes/regulations/laws (if any).

7.5.1 Smo ke d etection a nd fir e sup pression is a n imp ortan t aspect o f t he in stallation p rocedure . Fires a re a co mmon o ccurrence in d us t collection sy stems a nd t he co mprehensive co llection sys te m should b e d esigned for when a fire o ccurs, n o t if . Various sy stems a re a vailable fo r smoke d etection a nd an ev en great e r lis t of fir e s uppression t echnologies exi st. Fi re s prin kler systems for collectors M UST b e properly co nnected. I n most cases, t his is the clo ses t building’s fire sprin kler system. ALL smo ke detection/fire sup pression sys tems sho uld b e p eriodically in spe cted and main tained. 7.6 HEPA/SAFETY FILT ERS (OPTIONAL) 7.6.1 The ADT u nits with the HEPA/SAFETY filte r assembly o ption a re general shipped in t wo different fashions . One m ethod is with the H EPA/SAFETY filte r assembly already in stalled on t op o f t he unit . Therefore, n o fu rthe r installation is n ecessary . The o the r method is with t he H EPA/SAFETY filte r assembly as a s eparate co mponent, a nd in t his si tuation t he follo win g s teps a pply.

7.6.1.1 Locate t he AD T ma in a ssembly, t he t op o u tlet p ane l a nd H EPA/SAFETY assembly,

and sup plied b olts.

7.6.1.2 Apply si licon s ealan t to t he t op p ortion o f t he ADT u n it (where t he t op o u tlet

panel/HEPA/SAFETY assembly a ttaches).

7.6.1.3 Place th e t op o u tlet p anel/HEPA/SAFETY assembly on t op o f t he main u n it (align

the b ol t holes).

7.6.1.4 Inse rt and h and t ighten t he sup plied b olts t o se cure the a ssembly.

7.6.1.5 Afte r all bolts h ave b een “ hand t ightened”, t hen “ snu g” the b olts . DO NOT O VE R

TIGHTEN!

7.6.2 The H EPA/SAFETY filte r assembly is g enera lly shipped with a p rotective co ve r. If so

supplied, r emove t he p rotective co ve r before energizin g t he sy stem.

8. PRE-START UP

8.1 If n o t alread y verifie d i n th e electri cal section , che ck rotatio n o f fan b y ele ctrically energizin g t h e syste m (turnin g th e ele ctrical powe r “ON” fo r a brie f instant), an d verif y rotation . Rotat ion mus t b e clockwis e whe n viewe d “OVE R THE T OP OF TH E MOTO R” fro m th e discharg e side.

8.2 It is suggested that new filters be properly pre-conditioned with pre-coat before start up. Please contact your Clean Air Industries Distributor for assistance.

8.3 Che ck th e compresse d a ir syste m for leaks . Conf irm 8 0 PSI minimum a ir p ressu re (maximu m 10 0 P SI).

Warning: Compressed air pressure higher than 100 PSI can damage the filters and the dust collector’s structural integrity.
