11. Maintenance

11.1 Procedures

11.1.1 Dus t Drawer: The d us t drawers should b e ch e cked and em p tied periodically . The frequency o f t his step will d epend o n t he n umbe r of shifts o peratin g a nd co nditions in t he p lan t; h owever, it is a go od p ractice t o frequently remove r esidue b u ild up. 11.1.2 HEPA/SAFETY Filters : The HEPA/SAFETY filters (if so eq uipped ) are lo cated on t op o f t he un it (inside t he H EPA/SAFETY fi lter a ssembly ). P eriodically, t hese filters sho uld be in spected a nd r eplaced . Condition o f t he H EPA/SAFETY filte r will g enera lly be a fu nction o f t he M agnehelic ga ge (f o r the HEPA/SAFETY filters – NOT t he ca rtridge f ilters ) read in g. To examine : • Remove t he t wo wing nuts for each fil ter • Lif t off t he f ilte r “ tie d own” b ar • Remove H EPA/SAFETY filters • Insta ll n ew H EPA/SAFETY filters • Insta ll H EPA/SAFETY filte r “tie d own” bar • Insta ll t he t wo wing nuts fo r each fil ter. 11.1.3 Spar k Baffles: The spar k baffles (if so equipped ) are located behind t he thin p ane l. Periodically, t hese filters should be in spe cted and cle aned . Any b uildup o f material in t he fil ters ca n lead to fire s . To exa mine: • Remove t he a ccess p anel • Pu ll o u t the spa rk b affles • Wash with soa p a nd wat er, and air dry • Replace the spar k baffles • Replace t he a ccess p anel. 11.1.4 Cartridge Filters: The c artridge filters will n eed t o b e replaced periodically . The fr equency varies fro m a fe w w eeks t o a fe w y ears, d ependin g o n fact ors such a s d ensity o f fu mes/dust, particle si ze, humidity o f air, o il or grease c ontents o f matter, etc… To ch ange o ut: • Remove t he a ccess d oo r underneath t he v alves • Pu ll both ca m lock levers towards (y ou ) (t he fil te r guide b ars sho uld d rop d own) • Remove cartridge filters (t hey sho uld sl ide o ut) • Slide t he n ew filters in to t he u n it (be sure to p ush t he first installed f ilter, a s far back a s possible) • Push b oth ca m lock levers away (from y ou ) (t he fil te r guide bars sho uld rise) • Replace t he a ccess d oor. 11.1.5 Drain Va lve: Periodically o pen t he drain v alve a ttached b e low t he t an k to d rain t he liq uid build-up in t he air t ank.

NOTE: Electrical power and compressed air supply MUST be disconnected before beginning the filter installation.

NOTE FOR NON-WASHABLE (PAPER FILTER) FILTER CARTRIDGES: Do not wet or clean the cartridge filters with any liquid as it may form unwanted blockage on the filter media.
