5. THEORY OF OPERATION
5.1 The ADT dus t collector is factory a ssembled and designed t o en hance t he air q uality fo r plan t personnel . Durin g norm al operation, air flows through the d u ct and i nto t he c ollecto r plenum . An abrasive i nle t is a vailable a s a n option . Dirtied air ca n t hen flow t hrough the spark baffles (if so equipped ) a nd t hen moves between t he ca rtridge filters and t owards t he blower. A p ortion o f t he d us t will co lle ct on t he surfac e of t he ca rtridge m ed ia as the air passes t hrough t he filte r media, a nd in to the b lowe r. The d us t that co llects o n t he ca rtridge me d ia will periodically be dislodged by t he r everse j e t pulse cle anin g system . This system is electronically controlled and is usually configured t o mon ito r the d ifferentia l p ressure b etween across t he f ilte r media . When t he d ifferentia l p ressure reaches t he a djustable se t point, a brief b urs t of co mpressed air will b e released into t he co re o f t he ca rtridge fil te r to dislodge the dus t from t he fil ter surf ace. The dislodged dus t gradually migrates towards t he s ett ling chamber fo r subsequen t manu al removal through t he d us t tray o r hopper.
