Self Is one of the Christian’s biggest problems. . . . While this passage refers to the future, Is it not a reminder to us that our most important duty,, at all times, is to see that our souls are right with God ? When a Christian's commun ion with God is broken, he is an easy prey to any temptation. But when there is nothing between him and God, he may confidently go forward, however numer ous and mighty his enemies may be. —Sunday School Times. Peace or Appeasement “For unto us a child is bom, unto us a son is given: . . . and his name shall be called . . . The Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6). When God declared through His prophet that His Son is the Prince of Peace, He said, in effect, that there could be no peace without His Son. It means the world today cannot have peace. Peace is the gift of God. It is not a man-made product. Man’s mightiest efforts can never produce peace. The divine program is: first Christ, then peace.—Basil Holt. Judging Our Work “Let every man prove his own work” (Gal. 6:4). 25. 26.

“ Every 'mail's work shall be made manifest” (1 Cor. 3:13). At the judgment seat of Christ our work will be made manifest. . . . There we shall have to give an account of the deeds done here. Oh, worker for Christ, bring your work into the light of the judgment seat; see to it that your mo tive is pure, your eye single, your object the glory of God; and thus, when you are manifest before the judgment seat, you may receive your reward, and, bet ter still, hear the Master’s “Well done.”. —F. E. Marsh. 27. The Cleansing Process “These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb” (Rev. 7:14). “Tribulation” is suggestive; it comes from a word which means a flail, and with the flail, you know, the chaff is separated from the wheat. The blood of Jesus Christ washes white, and never whitewashes! It is genuine purity, and day by day, year by year, the process of removing thè chaff from thè wheat and the dross from the gold continues. —A. C. Dixon. 28. A Judged Prince “The Comforter . ,. . will convict the world in respeet of . , . Judgment, be

cause the prince of this world hath been judged” (John 16:7, 8, 11, R. V.). Of what value is it to be convicted of righteousness unless at the same' time we are given the assurance that right eousness will be victorious? What if the prince of this world can overthrow it? But “ the prince of this world hath been judged.” . . . From the hour of Calvary’s triumph, Satan has been under sentence —vanquished. To us, Satan’s judgment seems to be a process still going on . . . to the Son of God, it is already accom plished.—J. Oswald Sanders. 29. Change from the Beaten Track “ Suddenly there shined round about him [Saul] a light from heaven: . . . And he trembling and astonished said, Lord^ what wilt thou have me to do?” (Acts 9:3, 6). Blindly, ofttimes we tread a beaten track,, Smoothed b$ tradition, habit, or a sense Of our superior rights; no turning back. No asking of ourselves the question: “Whence # Will this path lead us, and will right ensue?” Nay, these the things we learned, these must we do. And then, across the old familiar road We tread with such complacence day by day,
