Meals for Groups and Organizations:

Ward Cabin Hearth Meals:

This unique meal is one of the more popular activities at Old Prairie Town, so make your reservations early! Meals are served at fireside tables in the Ward cabin, and diners are treated to special hearth-cooking demonstrations with a side dish of history, all provided by costumed volunteers. These family style meals are offered from October 15 through March 15 with reservations for groups of 12-18. Menu $25 per person Hearth-cooked ham or smoked turkey, sweet potatoes, Irish potatoes, fruit, Dutch oven baked biscuits, hearth-baked molasses cookies, old-fashioned ice cream, cider and coffee. New additional meal choices are now available.

Youth Programs at Old Prairie Town:

Schoolhouse Session Are you looking for a unique experience for your class or youth group? Then come and spend an hour in our authentic one-room schoolhouse learning about our Kansas country school legacy, ciphering on slates, participating in a spelling bee and playing old-time games. Old Prairie Town and Great Overland Station Group Tours (youth and adult) Did you know groups larger than 15 can tour both of our historic sites for one price? Meal options are also available at an additional cost. Groups must schedule their tour at least two weeks prior to tour date. Minimum 15, Maximum 100. Call 785.251.6993 for more information.

WEST LAWN MEMORIAL GARDENS

Nestled in a peaceful setting on Auburn Rd north of I-70, West Lawn Memorial Gardens offers a beautiful location for family members to rest in eternity. Special features include a Veterans Field of Honor and an Avenue of Flags.

West Lawn Memorial Gardens offers five gardens from which to choose and more than 12,000 burial plots. Choose between Christus, Veterans Field of Honor, Prayer I, Prayer II and Old Rugged Cross.

Our staff at Shawnee County Parks + Recreation know that discussing memorial options can often be difficult. We’ll do our best to ensure your comfort when you decide to lay your loved ones to rest in West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
