Leadership Texarkana Class of 2021

Randy Stevens Attorney Norton Wood Floyd, LLP

LEADER ID—I am a helpful, practical, intellectual, life-long LEARNER.

Lawyer, teacher, trucker. Attorney at Norton Wood Floyd since 2018, having practiced law in Dallas and Waco. A graduate of Baylor University and their School of Law (Go Bears!). Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and raised in Houston, Texas, and thus reclaiming his spot as a fifth-generation Texan. Randy has an Aggie son living in Galveston. Former Vice Chair of Lawyers Against Domestic Violence, trying to get the government to fulfill its public safety function. An appreciation for culture lead him to The 500 Inc. as a Facilities chair for the Run for the Arts and Acquisitions chair for the annual Art Auction.

AREA OF INTEREST—Cultural Assets and Longtime Political Junkie

“I will be retiring in a few months to #vanlife but as Tennyson says ‘How dull it is to pause, to make an end, To rust unburnish’d, not to shine in use!’ In a period of semi-retirement a few years ago I did not miss work so much as I missed being useful. Nomads have shown during the pandemic that we possess a skill set that has value: mobility, connectivity, self-sufficiency, community. I will either find or found a nomad group that can get to disasters and offer help without putting a strain on resources. And then go back to living down by a river, or a beach, or a mountain.”
