AREA OF INTEREST— Basic Human Needs and Mental Health

“The COVID-19 health crisis has allowed conversations regarding mental health to be had where previously it was not discussed, or not discussed openly. It is my desire to keep these conversations going, and to assist those with mental illness in making connections with their community here in Texarkana. When people feel connected to where they live, they are more likely to contribute and engage with others to work toward improving the community. Education on mental illness is vital to this process, as well as the mission to see that everyone in Texarkana has their basic needs met. I plan to continue fostering relationships I have developed through Leadership Texarkana so that I am better equipped to assist those with mental health issues by linking them to available resources that can help meet their needs, and enhance their lives.”
