shall wipe away all tears . . . and there shall be no more death.” “ But there is another side also,” I warned. “ ‘But the fearful, the unbeliev ing, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.’ ” “ The first death is the death of the body,” I explained, “ but the second death is when the soul dies to God and is separated forever and ever from Him in the lake of fire.” As I spoke, I saw her expression change. Ridicule was wiped from her face and a new concern and thought fulness took its place. When I asked if prayer might be made that she might come to know God through our blessed Lord Jesus, she readily agreed. After wards, she thanked me for praying but made no further indication of God’s working in her heart. It was to be the privilege of another to witness as she took the most important step in her life. Before the conference was over, Mrs. A. went to the room of one of the Christian women there and said she wanted to accept Christ as her Saviour. And then and there the glorious transaction was made, and Mrs. A. became a child of God through belief in the Altogether Lovely One, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Work and the Workers (Continued from Page S) the significant Mediterranean cities, then enjoying an extended stay in Syria and Palestine. Return is scheduled for the end of March. The trip is open to Christian people of all ages throughout the country. The Bible in Ulesaghi The most recent translation of the Bible was completed by three Solomon Islanders and supported by the British and Foreign Bible Society of London. During the war a translation of the New Testament had been made, but it was due to the interest of the natives themselves that the entire Bible was completed. Most of the expense con nected therewith was paid by the na tives. LeTourneau Venture A new method of foreign missions has been inaugurated by Mr. R. G. LeTour neau, a Christian industrialist, who financed a modern Noah’s Ark equipped for spiritual reclamation work in Li beria. Mr. LeTourneau suggests that half a million acres of undeveloped jungle land be leased and that natives be taught to use his machines to help themselves. He suggests, “We can show them more in a year than we can tell them in a lifetime about the right way to live.”

Announcement of Importance! With the December issue, we com mence a series of six articles dealing with Israel’s history—past, present and future—by the distinguished Hebrew Christian and scholar, Dr. Charles L. Feinberg, Director, Professor of Semi tics and Old Testament, Talbot Theo logical Seminary. Our readers will not wish to miss one of the series, the in triguing titles of which are as follows: “ Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem” ; “ Why Don’t the Jews Believe in Christ?” ; “ In the Tents of Shem” ; “Who Crucified Jesus?” ; “ Israel, the Apple of God’s Eye” ; “ Salvation is of the Jews.” However, the articles will not appear in this order, necessarily, and each will be complete in itself. What Will The Harvest Be ? (Continued from Page 11) the cross daily and denying oneselt. However, it brings true joy and peace. It is the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free. “ Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof” (Rom. 13:14). The Harvest Home of those who have set the Lord always before them, giving the Lord Jesus Christ the pre-eminence in everything, will be a time to hail with joy and gladness. It will bring an end to the struggle against the flesh. But the consummation to be looked for with horror and fear will be the portion of those who are to reap corruption. A book written shortly after World War I by Hanighen and Engelbrecht, entitled, “Merchants of Death,” deals with the munitions makers and the great fortunes accumulated by them out of the deaths of men in war. It is full of startling items, one of which we relate: “ The significant fact is noted that in England today, in Bedford Park, there is a cannon captured from the Germans during the war which bears a British trademark. It was sold to the Germans before the war. Mines in the Dardanelles which sank British warships in that costly campaign were mines which had been made in Britain and sold to Turkey by the British manufacturer . . . The Ger mans, in their frightful losses in the attack upon Verdun, ran into barbed wire entanglements in front of Fort Douamont which had been shipped into Switzerland only two months before by a German factory.” And all are familiar with the scrap iron scandal of our re cent conflict with Japan. Do we want to meet again in the life to come what we are sowing now? Whether we wish to or not—we shall! For the sake of the harvest, we must take heed what we are putting into the soil today. What will our harvest be?

Testimony to Israel

By the Jewish Missionary I n this column each month we hope to recount for our readers some details of the Lord’s working in and through the Jewish Department of the Bible In stitute of Los Angeles, Daniel Rose, Director. We trust this will stimulate prayer for our missionaries and those they contact in personal witness. We cannot give names, but our Lord knows the individuals and will fit your prayers to their needs. This month we shall accompany one of our missionaries to the California mountains: to a Bible Con ference conducted by the Church of the Open Door, where God had sent Mrs. A. . . . to the amazement of all who knew her. We were startled when Mrs. A. asked for a reservation at the Bible Confer ence given by our church in the moun tains this summer. Mrs. A. was Jewish. The year before she had gone to the same conference and we had approached her with the message of Salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. At that time she had openly ridiculed the Gospel; Christians, too, for believing in “ old, worn-out teachings that have no value today.” But now, once again, she wanted to go; willing to'enjoy the pleasant sur roundings, the reasonable rate of room and board, and Christian sympathy and consideration enough to attend even a Bible Conference. Any hope on our part that her heart was softened toward the message, however, was quickly dispelled by her continued sly ridicule. One morning, while a conference serv ice was in session, I felt overwhelmed by the sense of deep burden for Mrs. A., apd felt compelled to visit her and once more present the claims of the Lord Jesus Christ. Several of our workers met to pray as I sent up a request that she see me. She came down to the large front room of the lodge and we sat down before the big fireplace. She must have known what I was going to say and sought to forestall me for she turned quickly and said defiantly: “ I believe it is much the wiser to believe men of the past like Ingersoll and Paine, and others who only thought of this life and this world.” “ But those men are all dead,” I pointed out, “ and cannot now influence anyone for good. They, themselves, died without any hope. But our blessed Lord Jesus rose again the third day to give us the resurrection of the dead.” Turning quickly to Revelation 21, I read to her the glorious message of all things being made new including a new heaven, a new earth, and a new Jerusa lem coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as. a bride adorned for her husband. She was shown that “ God
