order that they might let him down in front of Jesus, because there were so many people present, they could not get him through the door. We read, “ And Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be for given thee” (Matt. 9:2). The man’s greatest need was to have his sins for given. Notice, the black thread drops from the needle. Later he said to the man, “ Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house” (Matt. 9:6). Each one of us know many today who are sick with sin and need to be brought to Christ. In some cases it may take as many as four to bring them, but God will reward our efforts even as he did the efforts of these four faithful friends. A n H o n o r R o l l Object: A piece of paper 8% x 11 inches. (Fold each end to within % inch of the middle, leaving a gap of % inch. In this space print the words, “ TRUTH TELLERS.” Open the folds and, using these two words, complete the following words: “ MATTHEW, BARTHOLO MEW, LEBBEUS, THOMAS, JOHN, PETER, JAMES, PHILIP, ZELOTES, JAMES, ANDREW, and JUDAS.” Do not let the letters in the words “ TRUTH TELLERS” be more distinct than the other letters. Begin the lesson with the flaps open, showing the names of the twelve disciples.) Nov. 16, 1952

was rewarded, for we read, “ And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour” (Matt. 8:13). If we are to receive answers to our prayers, we must come to God in faith believing. F a i t h f u l F r i e n d Objects: A large magnet and five needles. (Paste a red cross on one prong of the magnet. Before the lesson, allow four of the needles to become mag netized by contacting the same prong of the magnet. Wrap a piece of black thread around the fifth needle.) Lesson: These four shining needles remind us of the four faithful friends mentioned in the 9th chapter of Mat thew. These four men had a friend who was very ill. He needed to see Jesus, the One who could heal him, but he was so sick that he could not get off his bed and go to Jesus. His four faithful friends decided that they would take him to Jesus, in order that he might be healed. Here is a needle to remind us of this man. It has black thread, representing sin, wrapped around it. We will let this large magnet with a red cross remind us of Christ. The needy needle is at one end of the table, and the magnet at the other end. Christ was very busy and the man was too sick to walk to Christ. Nov. 9, 1952

F a i t h F i l l s Objects: A small umbrella (a toy one if possible), a large funnel, two cups and a pitcher of water. Lesson: Boys and girls, why does your mother use a funnel, such as this one? “ So that she will not lose what she is pouring.” Did you ever hear of anyone’s bring ing a funnel to church in order not to lose any of the blessings God wants to give? No, I suppose you never have, but there are those who are careful to catch all the blessings of God. As I pour water into this funnel, the liquid is transferred into the cup beneath it. Do you remember the Psalmist who was so thankful for God’s blessings that he said: “ My cup runneth over” ? Then there are those who come to the house

of God with an umbrella. I am not talk ing about real umbrellas; I mean the imaginary ones, such as unbelief, preju dice and doubt, which keep people from being refreshed by God’s showers of blessings. The other cup which I have placed under the umbrella does not get a drop of water as I pour from the pitcher. This funnel reminds me of the man who came to Christ and said, “My servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented” (Matt. 8:6). When Jesus told the man He would come and heal the servant, the man said, “ Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed” (Matt. 8:8). This man came to Christ with a funnel of faith, and not an umbrella of doubt. Of him Jesus said, “Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel” (Matt. 8:10). Coming to Jesus with sincere faith

Lesson: In these days we are think ing much about honor rolls. We have before us one of the greatest rolls of honor ever compiled. Some of its names you will recognize, while others you may not. We have here the names of the twelve disciples whom Jesus called. Did you ever wonder why He called men to help Him? If we fold the side flaps over these names, I think we shall see why He called them. We now see the two words, “ TRUTH TELLERS.” He called them in order that they might go out and tell the truth which He had given them. In Matthew 10:5, 7, we read, “ These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go . . . And as ye go, preach, saying, The king dom of heaven is at hand.” It was the truth regarding the nearness of the kingdom that Jesus wanted them to tell. Christ is still looking for “ TRUTH TELLERS.” The truth which He wants His followers to tell now has to do with

The story tells us that the four friends took the sick man to Christ. Here are the four shining needles. Watch what happens when they come close to the other needle. They pick it up and carry it over to the magnet'. That is what this man’s four friends did for him. The Gospel of Mark tells us that the four friends had to uncover the roof in
