Some Suggestions for Personal Workers by T. C. HORTON, SUPERINTENDENT OF THE BIBLE INSTITUTE (1) Every unsaved person is under the wrath of God (John 3:36). “H e that believeth on the Son hath ererlasting life; and he that be lieveth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on h im /’ (2) Every one who accepts Jesus Christ as a personal Saviour is a saved sinner (John 1:12), “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to becom e the sons of God, even to them that believe on his nam e.” (John 5 :2 4 ). “Verily, verily, 1 say unto you, H e that heareth my word, and be lieveth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not com e into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life.” (3) As soon as one accepts Jesus Christ as Saviour, such an one be comes the authorized missionary of God and is empowered for service (John 17:18) “A s thou hast sent me into the world, even so have 1 also sent them into the world.” The word “sent’* is, in the original, apostólos’’;— the same word which is translated “apostle’’— a “sent one*’; sent into the world to save sinners. That is the real business of a saved sinner’s life. (4) Knowing that all men are sinners, and knowing that, as a sinner, you were saved and became a child of God (John 1:12) you take up the task committed to you. (5) You now know that all sinners can be saved, if they will. Your business is to make this known unto them. (John 3:16, 17) (6) God has given us a message by His servant, John, especially designed for our use in seeking to save the lost (John 20:31) “But these are written, that y e m ight believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing y e m ight have life through His nam e.” This Gospel of John has a special mission, you see, and you will find in it all that you will need for your work as an apostle (a sent one) m winning souls. You will find the Bible full of helpful things, but for your definite work of soul-winning, just take what God has designed and provided and study it carefully. Read it; read it again; pray over it.
