T H E K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S He didn’t know how to express His though ts so th a t we m ight rely on w hat He said. He eith er didn’t say what He m eant or He didn’t mean w hat He said, they say, and then they go ahead to tell us w hat He MEANT when He said He was coming again. He m eant th e Holy Spirit would come and when He came th a t was what Jesus m eant by H is own coming again, or when Je ru salem was destroyed, He came back again, or He comes every tim e a be liever dies or a sinner is converted. They even go as far as to say, “He is coming again, BUT He cannot come be fore th e whole world is converted and Christ has reigned a thousand years in th e h earts of th e saved, then He will come and reign a thousand years on th e earth. Yet we are told th a t no man knoweth th e day when He comes, but these tell us they can tell exactly th e day, Viz., when th e last sinner is converted and then one thousand years afte r th a t th e Lord will come. Now, th is is not fair or honest. If th e Lord was the g reatest teacher th e world ever knew, th en surely He knew w h at He was talk ing about and m eant ju st what He said when He said He was coming back again. He doesn’t need any of us to help Him to say w hat He means. I t is ju st this. If we deny th e Bible to be the word of God, then we can honestly deny th e second coming of the Lord Jesus, b u t if we say we believe th e Bible to be, not contain, th e word of God, then we are neith er fair nor honest, if we either deny the second coming of the Lord, as a visible, per sonal imm inent reality, or try to make the words mean something else. He is coming again. The very same Jesus. As His church— His bride—we have His promise, “ I will come again.” We have His ordinance of His supper, “Till He come.” We have His com mand. “Occupy till I come.” We have th e a ttitu d e we are to be daily in.

“W aiting for His Son from heaven.” We have the prayer we are to pray. “ Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” “ So I am watching and I am waiting Each moment of th e day. F o r it may be noon or evening When He calleth me away. “And it makes th e day go faster, And its tria ls easier borne; When I ’m saying each moment, To-day the Lord may come.” m b THE JUNIORS THE VINE AND BRANCHES Jo h n 15:5-8 R e v ie w : W hat did our last lesson tell us about? To whom are we talking when we pray? (To the F ath e r.) In whose name do we pray? (Jesu s’ name.) W hat things did Jesus say we m ight ask for when we pray? Does the F ath e r like to have us ask Him for the things we need? (Matt. 7:11) Does He like to have us ask Him to help us tell others about Him? Did you tell any one about Jesus last week? Lesson: Let us read these four verses (15: 5-8) for our lesson today. W hat does Jesus say He is? (A vine). W hat does He say His disciples (fol lowers) are? (B ranches.) Do th e branches grow out of th e vine? W hat are th e branches for? ( For fru it.) Did you ever see a grape vine? Did you ever see any one cut the branches off a grape vine? Why did they do it?
