By Denise Alison I ’m not good at sales. This is a common statement from small business owners. It’s right up there with I’m not a business person.
Many entrepreneurs feel that a lack of sales skills limits their ability to succeed. Sometimes this is a convenient excuse that masks the real problems in a business. But other times, that lack of confidence in your selling ability can become a problem.
A lot of times this lack of confidence is rooted in the belief that being a great sales person is a natural gift. Some of us have it, and some of us don’t. Born sales people are just naturally comfortable talking to anyone, super confident outgoing folks that everyone seems to gravitate to. But stop and think about this. If you put all of the members of your graduat- ing class from high school in a room, how many of them would fall into that category? And if it’s been a few years since
