2024 marked a pivotal year for the Henry County Sheriff’s Office with the establishment of the newly restructured Training, Background, and Recruiting Section. Officially launched on January 8, 2024, the responsibilities for background checks and recruiting were transferred to Field and Support Operations, resulting in a more streamlined and effective process for hiring and onboarding new personnel. IMPRESSIVE RESULTS IN 2024 This restructuring has already proven to be a success. Nearly twice as many personnel were hired in 2024 compared to 2023. This remarkable achievement can be attributed to the dedicated efforts of Deputies Lisa Gresham and Timothy Sterrett, who now serve as full- time Background and Recruitment Deputies. Their commitment to increasing employment outreach and conducting thorough background checks, with the help of our Internal Affairs Unit, has played a vital role in ensuring that the HCSO attracts and retains highly qualified candidates. have significantly expanded the HCSO’s presence at career fairs throughout Henry County and across the state of Georgia, connecting with potential candidates and promoting the agency's mission. In addition, the HCSO hosted its own career fair in September 2024. To enhance visibility and engagement, the HCSO upgraded its shared Community Relations and Recruiting F-150 with a sleek new wrap design. This eye-catching vehicle has become a recognizable symbol at events and throughout the community, further solidifying the agency’s commitment to recruitment and outreach. RIGOROUS AND THOROUGH HIRING PROCESS The selection of new hires is guided by a comprehensive process that evaluates candidates based on a variety of factors, including employment history, education, and criminal background. In collaboration with HCSO’s Internal Affairs Unit (IA) and Human Resources (HR), Deputies Gresham and Sterrett ensure that all candidates undergo a thorough vetting process, guiding them through each step of the hiring journey with professionalism and care. BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE The creation of the Background, and Recruiting Unit reflects the HCSO’s commitment to attracting top talent and maintaining the highest standards of excellence. By investing in robust recruitment efforts, engaging with the community, and ensuring a rigorous selection process, the HCSO is building a stronger, more capable team to serve and protect the residents of Henry County.
