INTERNAL AFFAIRS In 2024, we saw a notable increase in the number of candidates participating in the hiring process, coupled with a significant reduction in the administrative burden caused by payroll discrepancies, which were cut by 50%. Our strategic efforts have also resulted in the optimization of payroll management, ensuring 100% on-time submissions. The HR Unit has played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall employee experience at the Henry County Sheriff's Office. By focusing on recruitment, retention, and a streamlined onboarding process, the team has made substantial improvements in both the efficiency of talent acquisition and the quality of service to our staff.
Additionally, we have fully oriented all new employees, providing them with comprehensive information on benefits management and other key areas to facilitate a smooth transition. This dedication to clarity and support has been a key factor in our high employee engagement levels, fostering trust and retention. We have worked diligently to support the Sheriff's top six goals, building a strong, engaged workforce that is committed to the agency’s mission. As we continue to evolve, our HR team remains dedicated to creating value for every member of the HCSO family, driving both operational excellence and employee satisfaction.
Upholding Accountability and Integrity Behind the Badge
The Internal Affairs (IA) Unit is a cornerstone of the HCSO’s, dedicated to promoting accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. By upholding the highest standards of professionalism, IA ensures that all investigations into allegations of misconduct or wrongdoing are conducted with fairness, justice, and integrity, preserving public trust while maintaining a disciplined and just system.
In 2024, IA played a key role in the hiring process, laying the groundwork for the newly established Background and Recruiting Unit to ensure that candidates entering the agency met the highest standards of conduct and professionalism. Additionally, the IA Unit welcomed Sergeant Kowanda Cheatham , who was newly promoted and assigned to the team. Sgt. Cheatham brought a wealth of expertise to the role, having completed Internal Affairs School, earned certification in CVSA (Computer Voice Stress Analysis), and underwent specialized training specific to internal investigations. 2024 2023 2022 8%
