2022 DISCOVER CHEATHAM COUNTY VISITORS GUIDE

Elsa Lockert Through the ‘Eyes of Elsa’, for decades she was able to

see clearly to create the finest detailed art from water color, oil, and acrylic on canvas. Then, life changed and presented Elsa with a new creative challenge when she was diagnosed with macular degeneration. Having lost most of her eyesight, she is to this day, still determined to continue to create art to inspire us all through broad brushstrokes, simple images on large formats, with tints and shades as her vision inhibits her ablility to distinugish colors. Throughtout the years, Elsa’s artistic works have been seen as beautiful, meaningful, and fulfilling. Elsa is the mother of four children, Jimmy, Shawn, Suzanne and Eric. I know of no one else like her who possesses the culture and hunger to know more of what was beyond Cheatham County. We spent many fun hours together painting, shopping and entertaining over the first few years after meeting. As things go, we got busy with our careers and families and time spent together became less and less. However the circle of life finds a way of bringing those people we love back together. We found each other again, encouraging each other and began a quest to share her life’s works with the world. Her will to create is never ending, an inspiration rarely found in those who have been dealt a bad hand. Her children say it best, “...if she puts her mind to it...it will become reality!” Elsa has been one of the county’s most prolific artists who has captured on canvas the county’s history of landmarks and historical sites.
