BULLS BACKED BY Dominant Females
TJB Gelbvieh bulls are all backed by dominant females selected for generations of maternal excellence. Many bulls offered in this sale are descendants of three to six generations of donor females in our program. Thus, the continued emphasis in our marketing as “Maternal Magic.” All bulls that were eligible have been tested for coat color unless they were homozygous black by birth. All bulls will be listed as HB (homo black), Black- RC (have a red gene), or Red. Bulls listed as HP (homo polled) have either been tested, or most likely, assigned HP status by birth right. Although we are comfortable with this approach, it is not 100% guaranteed. All bulls have been DNA tested and have GE-EPDs.
DEFINITIONS OF TERMINOLOGY BLACK(HOMO D) - DNA tested homozygous black BLACK(NOT HOMO-D) - DNA tested and red carrier BLACK(RC) - Not DNA tested with known red parent
BLACK(HOMO-P) - Homozygous black by parentage and parent verified POLLED(HOMO-P) - Homozygous polled by parentage and parent verified HP - Most of our bulls descend from homozygous polled parentage. These bulls were not tested homo polled, but we are confident they should be. DP - Double polled parentage. Possible these are homo polled but not tested.
