LES NATIONALS L’EMPORTE CONTRE CARLETON PLACE

À la suite d’une victoire contre les Canadians de Carleton Place, les Nationals de Rockland ont réussi à s’assurer une place dans les prochaines séries éliminatoires. C’est le 22 février dernier que les Nats affrontaient Carleton Place, à l’aréna CIH de Rockland. L’équipe à domicile a vite fait de prendre les devants contre ses rivaux, à la suite de deux buts de Jack Sullivan, aidé de Gunnar Smith et Daniel Menges. Carleton Place a réussi à surmonter la défensive de Rockland en deuxième période. Ryland Mosley, aidé de ses coéquipiers Reece Bolton et Cameron Patton, a marqué. Les Nats ont vite répliqué, avec un but de Cameron Last, sur des passes de Cole Craft et Simon Labelle. Last a encore marqué en troisième période, assisté cette fois-ci de Griffin McGregor et Sullivan. Rockland a remporté la partie quatre à un. The Clarence Creek Castors are three games up against the Gatineau-Hull Volant and looking for a fourth and final win in their quarterfinal series in the National Capital Junior Hockey League. The Castors beat the Volant 4-1, 3-1, and 2-1 in the first three games of their quarter-inal series. If the February 26 game in Gatineau finishes in Clarence Creek’s favour, the Castors will move on to the semifinals and wait to see who they play against then. Scoring singles for Clarence Creek in the February 22 opener were Kyle Green, Patrick Lemay, Nathan Melée, and Sam Paquette. Assists came from Lemay, Etienne Agius- Pease, Tyler Baker, Aiden Cannell, Matthew Clifford, and Vincent Martel, with Corey Camirand guarding the net. Brad Faubert scored the lone Gatineau goal with assists from Mathieu Des Ruisseaux and Denis Gratton. Marc-Olivier Bastien was in the net. Saturday night at the Rockland arena, Agius-Pease, Baker, and Lemay scored for Clarence Creek, with assists coming from Martel, Paquette, and Samuel Gaudet, while Camirand guarded the net. Des Ruisseaux scored for Gatineau with help from Gratton and Jeremy Trudeau, while Bastien was in the net. Sunday afternoon in Clarence Creek, Martel and Raphaël Payant scored for the Castors, with assists from Clifford and Lemay, while Camirand blocked the net. Jérémie Cardinal scored for Gatineau with assists from Simon Hupé and Marquis Roy, while Bastien was in the net. Saint-Isidore Saint-Isidore is scrambling to get ahead of North Dundas in the NCJHL quarterfinal series between the two clubs. Assisting were Cowley, Fingler, Williams, Brad Nash, and Dylan Robinson with Tondreau in the net. Scoring for Saint-Isidore were Brunette, Wells, and Zackary Bougie. Assisting were Bougie, Howson, Laflèche, Tyler Druce, and Mathieu Grandmont, with Dawson in the net. Sunday, at home, Saint-Isidore beat North Dundas 4-2 with a pair of goals from Howson and singles from Roy and Xavier Leclerc. Assisting were Brunette, Wells, and Daniel Scott, with Dawson guarding the net. Roth scored twice for North Dundas, with help from Lefebvre and Jack Van Kessel, and Tondreau in the net. Saint-Isidore hosts the fourth game in the series, February 28, with the fifth in Chesterville on March 1. Vankleek Hill The battle has begun for a place in the championship finals of the National Capital Junior Hockey League and the Vankleek Hill Cougars and the Bytown Royals are split at two games to one in the quarterfinals so far. The Royals got a 5-2 win against the Cougars last Friday night on their home ice. Scoring two goals each for Bytown were Jonathan Cauchon and Gregory Knighton with Justin Proulx tallying a single. Sunday afternoon in Vankleek Hill, the Cougars clawed the Royals 6-1 with single goals from Allen, Ayotte, Castonguay, Dopehamer, Lavoie, and Jonathan Leblanc. Assisting were Allen, Ayotte, Castonguay, Dopelhamer, Labrosse, Plourde-Grenon, Trempe, and Zacharie Leblanc, with Frederick Durocher blocking the net. Francis Dall scored the lone Bytown goal with help from Samuel Paquette. Gervais was in the net. The Cougars and Royals are in Ottawa Friday night with a fifth, and maybe final game between them, Saturday night in Vankleek Hill. Remaining games, if necessary, will be Sunday in Ottawa and then next Wednesday in Vankleek Hill.
