A round 1 pm on 10-5-25 I opened Facebook and saw some troubling news. Kay’s granddaughter, Kelly, had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. If you are in the Shorthorn business, you all know the family. They have been a part of Durham Nation since the get-go. I miss her Grandpa LeRoy every day. He was one of the most authentic people I’ve ever met and loved his Shorthorns as much as anyone I’ve ever known. Kay has not only maintained the cow herd, but grew it and they just keep getting better. Kelly is a highly independent single mother and not one to ever ask for help. She will not, however, say no to her Grandma. So, post a call with Kay the AM of 10-6, we came up with a plan...sell a Flush on any cow in their herd. While they are not long on numbers, they are long on good. Check out the heifer calves and breds on this offering. All of their dams are available. Find the 50K and MD bull calves in the yard sale weekend and then track their dams.
There are 25 cows there that are as productive as anything, anywhere. I have a few on my short list and will offer any input I can, as will Preston & Haley.
Flush will take place on or prior to 5-15-26. We will handle all the donor set-up and shots. Flush work will be done by Bovagen, Britton, SD. Let’s make this bring a pile. #LK.
