This year we are seeing, hanging plants, colourful succulent gardens, string patio lighting and white textures and furniture to keep cool in the summer.

BOLD COLOUR + FLORALS

We are seeing bold colours and florals this season and we are loving it and wallpaper is making a big comeback. You can incorporate this gorgeous textile by only adding it to one wall as a feature, or you can cover a small powder room in a simple motif to add a little fun. Gone are the days where it is hard to apply and even harder to remove. Play with florals and colours! Go BIG. Go BOLD.

WOOD + WHIMSY ACCENTS

Whimsy accents and wood storage are making an appearance in every principal room in the home. Light fixtures, door handles and hardware of all kinds are seeing a stunning variety from brushed metal to porcelain. A hardware change is the perfect solution to give your cabinets or furniture a sleek looking upgrade without breaking the bank.

MARKET KNOWLEDGE

We study year over year trends and deliver 'The Market' real estate report every month. We prepare a unique comparative market analysis package. These tools allow our clients to familiarize themselves with the current market. FINANCING

Become familiar with government incentives. Get pre-approved for your next mortgage. Create a realistic budget. Speak with your financial advisor prior to listing.

Tips

Helpful To Get You Started!

DECOR We offer our clients complimentary home staging to ensure your home showcases beautifully. Swap out seasonal decor with fresh flowers, house plants, neutral throw pillows, colourful textiles and lightweight drapes. Clear off countertops and bookshelves for an effortless finish. Small upgrades like replacing old kitchen hardware can really make a difference. Paint over any scuffs or dents in the wall. A neutral colour will add modernity. Get ahead of a building inspector by fixing any major issues before you list. UPGRADES WINDOW CLEANING After a snowy Canadian winter, exterior fixtures and windows can always be freshened up from the sleet and salt. Bright, sparkling windows will give your home lovely curb appeal.

the word on the street

My partner and I had such an incredible experience with Toombs Real Estate Team, we can't thank them enough! They went above and beyond our expectations in helping us find our first home. With a baby soon on the way and such little time to finding that perfect home, Leigh was truly amazing in making us feel at ease and making sure the home felt right for our growing family. As someone who doesn't have a vision to see how a home could have potential or be made to feel my own, Leigh always ensured I could see that vision. When it came time to closing, they made sure the transition was seamless and stress free for us. Highly recommend them and will definitely be using them again in the future!

Darcy Toombs was amazing when we bought our house in downtown Newmarket. He was patient, knowledgable and knew the area extremely well, which is a major asset. We will definitely use his team again in the future.

NEWMARKET'S FIRST BOUTIQUE HOTEL EXPERIENCE

Newmarket is getting its' very first boutique hotel! Located at 180 Main St. S. and is named The Postmark Hotel. The company also launched a website and held a launch event to celebrate the occasion as it ramps up toward a projected spring 2023 opening. "The clock tower is an incredible historical landmark in Newmarket and we are dedicated to paying homage to its rich history. As a Canadian company, we prioritize the communities we work with and have ensured that we are restoring the important historical elements of the building while ushering in a new look and feel for guests." Streetcar founder and president Les Mallins said in a news release. "It was essential to us to ensure the name preserved and enhanced the heritage elements of the landmark post office," director of marketing and communications Sonya Singh said. "In addition, we felt the name serves as an extension of the city's incredible dedication to the existing arts and culture." Construction at the former post office site is ongoing. The hotel is proposed to have three floors, 55 guest rooms and a rooftop restaurant and event space. “The revitalization of the iconic clock tower will not only preserve and enhance heritage elements of the building but will also enhance the vibrancy of the town,” Streetcar said. “As Newmarket is known for its incredible community and culture, the Postmark Hotel will serve as an extension of this, providing an opportunity for guests to enjoy the city’s lively downtown core.”

WHAT IS THAT GOING TO BE?

new town Development

Have you driven by the large development going up at Highway 404 and Green Lane and wondered what it is going to be? Well! It is going to be a 1.2 million square foot logistics and distribution centre owned by the grocery giant Loblaw. The company announced last summer that it acquired control of 154 developable acres of industrial land right at the corner of Highway 404 and Green Lane East to build the new facility. The municipality said it expects the facility to offer more than 1,000 jobs to the York Region community. According to East Gwillimbury Mayor Virginia Hackson, the town is thrilled with the investment. “This is the largest employment development project our town has ever seen, and it will bring great benefits to the community in terms of job creation,” she said in a news release. A news release said they hope to bring the distribution facility into operations in the first quarter of 2024. The development plan for the property is for the trust to build a multi-phase industrial park, with the potential for approximately 1.8-million-sq.-ft. of new generation logistics space. According to the news release, the total initial cost of the project is $170 million. “Business and job growth are fundamental to York Region’s economic success,” York Region Chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson said. “We are pleased Loblaw Companies Limited and Choice Properties REIT have joined our thriving business community."
