Welcoming the world to the AMBA & BGA GLOBAL CONFERENCE
CEO’S COLUMN
Andrew Main Wilson outlines the preparations taking place ahead of the AMBA & BGA Global Conference 2022 in Lisbon – our first in-person conference since 2019
Of course, none of these topics are straightforward to comprehend, nor easy to plan for or address, without a clear and considered strategic direction. They all require, careful thought, discussion, and yet – most importantly – decisive action. The greatest opportunity for Business Schools is to mould their students into a global force for good to address the myriad of issues we’re facing collectively. I stated at the start of this column that it’s been three years since AMBA & BGA has been able to stage a face-to-face conference, and that the past 36 months have given Schools an unprecedented opportunity to innovate and reflect. I’m very much looking forward to having inspirational conversations with you all during the event.
disruptions – I hope that the content and focus of our Global Conference will serve not only as an opportunity for reflection, but also as a call to action. As educators and thought leaders, we know from theory and practice that the only way to address and alleviate the problems we’re facing as an international community is to do so collaboratively and as a group of like-minded practitioners who share a common aspiration. since we were last able to host a face-to-face Global Conference
– in Istanbul, Turkey, in May 2019. A lot has happened over the past 36 months, and I’m looking forward to meeting with you all and taking stock of the challenges we’ve faced, as well as the achievements we’ve celebrated during this unprecedented period. One of the key themes of the event is global digital transformation and the future of business education, so it seems fitting and appropriate that AMBA & BGA is embracing the exciting and innovative emerging technology to deliver an immersive and engaging event – namely AI matchmaking for networking in a physical setting. This year, however, considering the seemingly insurmountable challenges we are facing – from geopolitical uncertainty and climate emergency, to post-Covid-19 restoration and future-proofing against further inevitable
