In a constantly evolving digital learning environment, continued innovation is essential The digital landscape is changing all the time so it’s important for educators to know that the platform they are using will keep pace with change. Digital resilience is vital for educational institutions. From an educational technology provider perspective, I believe it’s imperative to work closely with Business School partners to ensure innovation is based on market requirements and educational trends. This includes the perspective of the end users themselves, as highlighted by Dr Charlotte von Essen, Insendi’s Academic Engagement Director: ‘An important metric for success is student feedback. We’re very fortunate to have close partnerships with our partners, and many are willing to share anonymised student feedback so that we can obtain rich data that feeds back into how we develop technology. Insendi also runs research projects to gain insight into students’ experiences and needs.’ With these close partnerships, a continual focus on educational research and state-of-the art technology, EdTech companies such as Insendi will strive to exceed the needs of the digital learner in a fast-evolving digital ecosystem.

an equally fulfilling experience and learner success has been paramount for EdTech companies. Business Schools, like many higher education institutions, have had to create digital transformation strategies at speed, utilising innovative technology while also keeping students and their learning at the heart of their plans. Understanding and creating the optimum pedagogical journey for a learner is at the centre of everything we do at Insendi. Technology is how we make it happen. Originally designed for Imperial College London’s online MBA course, our ethos has consistently been to use academic research as our starting point. Key for us has always been to make online learning as good as, if not better than, a purely face-to-face experience. Nick Barniville, Director of the EdTech Lab at ESMT Berlin, agrees that this pedagogical approach has been fundamental to his School’s choice of platform: ‘The way the platform we have adopted for our programmes was conceived is highly student-centric. With a significant number of options for engagement which are easy to construct, Insendi’s pedagogical philosophy, based around a sequence of learning experiences and leading to achievement of specific learning objectives, clearly speaks to our learner-first approach.’ Not only is student success a core component when selecting a course; potential employability is also a crucial element in the selection process for a learner Students now look closely at the return on investment which is offered by an executive or higher education programme. Employability and networking are vital elements in choosing a course. So how can the online environment truly satisfy the requirement for these aspects? How can this community-building element be successfully incorporated? I believe a platform which enables course sharing and content licensing between executive education

providers around the globe, enables the integration of excellence. Business Schools can offer subject experts from any part of the world to their online learners. Specialist topics from specific institutions can be shared easily, thereby allowing learners to increase their employability without having to move around the world to find the relevant in-person course. The community and networking part of online learning is often an area which is lacking in online provision. Dr David Lefevre, Director of the EdTech Lab at Imperial College London Business School and co-founder of Insendi, has always stressed the importance of combining taught, experiential and community elements to provide a fully rounded learning experience in an online setting. The success of this approach to online learning has been highly effective with executive learners around the world, and will now also be introduced for parent company Study Group’s new online accredited postgraduate preparation programmes. Learners are looking for immersive experiences in executive education It’s not purely about the content of a programme. Educators require digital platforms which can bring the subject to life, stimulate critical thinking, and facilitate collaboration and networking. To have that element of social engagement within the platform, and a focus on experiential learning – as opposed to simply a repository of online content – has been a major positive for the Business Schools which have adopted the Insendi platform. The strong sense of community created through programmes run in the Insendi online learning environment has allowed students to learn from each other, as they would do in a face-to-face setting. Ivey Business School in Canada described their students’ online learning teams as ‘the nucleus of their social setting and critical to the success of learning online'.
