A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7
It has been lovely to see Year 7 back in school this week refreshed from the holidays and getting back into school life engaging really well in lessons. We have another busy term ahead and look forward to sharing Year 7 news and successes throughout this term. SPARX Maths Homework: Congratulations to the following Year 7 students who are top of the Sparx Maths homework leaderboard. They shall be receiving badges for their hard work. Well done. Kayla H (7XJ), Sam L (7XL), Valerie L (7XR), Anastasia T (7XT), Kate C (7YJ), Chloe C (7YL), Sansia B (7YR) and Sham AHA (7YT). This week Year 7 students have already been earning plenty of epraise points, well done and keep it up. We will share the updated individual and form group leaderboards next week. A reminder that most clubs and practices will start next week, please see the full list of activities for the Spring Term on the website here. If students are interested in attending they should look at the timetable of activities that has been shared via tutor group pigeon holes.

BOOK OF THE MONTH
‘My name is Mina’ by David Almond
In the form of a journal, this book is a prequel for the book Skellig, and focuses on the character Mina before she has met Michael and Skellig. It focuses on her troubles with school and family and shines a light on her creativity. It is a fun, but serious book all at the same time and has many different forms of creativity like poetry and made-up stories. Overall, it’s a very personal and emotive tale, with lots of much needed honesty about school and the stories that are missed of kids who struggle in school. - Isabelle H, Y11
