NOVEMBER 2020 HIGHLIGHTS

FLOWERS

Maintenance – Winter color is being installed with a tentative completion date of November 6th. All beds have had mulch and worm castings mixed in as a soil amendment. A tank mix of biologicals has been sprayed into beds as well. Beginning November we will start spraying fungicide and fertilizer on all flowers on a monthly rotation

Notes:

* November continues with mild temperatures that are ideal for landscapes. Reduce irrigation as the weather cools. Next month can bring freezing tem- peratures so major pruning and planting should be completed this month. Annual flowers can still be planted and should be fertilized to promote as much growth as possible before the cold weather. Monitor for fungus prob- lems and treat if necessary. Lawns should have been overseeded and mowing will be back to weekly intervals. Irrigation should be reduced to normal levels. Fertilize after the first mowing to help lawns establish. Spot seed and top dress with seed cover where needed. The record heat in October has made overseeding especially challenging this year. We are working hard to estab- lish high quality ryegrass turf before the cold weath- er. This month is the last chance to do any major prun- ing before the chance of frost. Pruning on Texas ranger should be limited because they will be blooming this time of year.
