Directors Report 11.16.20

My husband, David, and I were both born in Seattle and have lived there our entire lives. Since retiring, we knew that we did not want to spend our remaining years in the cloudy, gloomy Northwest. After traveling extensively through Florida and California, we decided to make ORPS are winter getaway. During our travels, we have stayed at many purpose-built RV resorts. Some were impeccably maintained, continually upgraded and very well managed. One resort had every lot 100% occupied (by either renters or owners) through May. We tried to make a reservation and were surprised when they said, “Our first opening is May 5.” In order for an RV resort to achieve and maintain that level of quality and desirability, there was clearly a solid long-term plan. On the other hand, we have stayed in RV resorts that were on the verge of becoming trailer parks. Many had park models that were derelict. Though their locations and core facilities were solid, It appeared that there was no management oversight or long-term planning. We would like to spend as many winters as ORPS as our health permits – hoping to be like some of our tennis friends so that we will be here more than 30 years. I have a strong passion for ensuring that ORPS remains “a Premier RV Resort with excellent facilities, activities and amenities, creating a positive social culture for all.” The long-term strategic plan will set the stage for protecting this vision over the next several decades.
