Hospo Health

Sherri Ring

Internationally there is growing body of evidence to show that healthy, happy staff are more engaged in their work, and that a strong and connected workplace culture leads to increased productivity. In turn, this can (and should) impact positively on the bottom line.

Let’s have a look at the new HOSPO Health offerings rolling out over the coming 12 months: • Face to face health checks, state-wide • Online short courses and certificates, with one stream tailored for business leaders and the other for the ‘hospo tribe’ • Series 2 of the HH Podcasts, featuring Steve Old in the hot seat • A purpose-built wellbeing framework for the industry, with support for businesses to implement. Over the early months of the program we gathered some valuable feedback from ‘influencer’ businesses, which has been integral in shaping how the program evolves. The new program additions have been developed as a result of this feedback. Our key focus is delivering a program that adds value to businesses, and also to the lives of everyone in the industry. We know participation can be a challenge, particularly with people working different shifts and long hours. But just imagine the possibilities: what if the hospitality industry here in Tassie can lead the way for businesses and industries right around Australia in how they approach workplace health and wellbeing? We believe we can. Jump on board with HOSPO Health and let’s work together for a happier, healthier workforce and better business outcomes right across our amazing industry.

Therefore, smart business operators are now recognising that looking after the health and wellbeing of their staff is an essential component of day-to-day operations. Closer to home, research shows that for every $1 spent on employee wellbeing there is a $2.30 return on investment. And with HOSPO Health, the business doesn’t even need to spend the dollar – the program is provided at no cost to all hospitality businesses and staff around Tasmania by THA.
