From the Liquor and Gaming branch The Liquor and Gaming Branch will be sending regular updates to licence and permit holders to provide information about important issues and priority areas for the Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission and the Commissioner for Licensing. Please keep an eye out for these updates, as they will assist you to ensure your venue is compliant with regulatory requirements. If you have any questions about your compliance or about any of the requirements in place for your venue, we are more than happy to provide clarification to you directly, or through the THA. Pub Poker The Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission has undertaken a review of the operation of poker in Tasmania. Fact sheets setting out the circumstances in which poker (and trade promotions) can lawfully be conducted can be found here: Fact sheets | Treasury and Finance Tasmania.

Liquor compliance issues The Commissioner for Licensing has recently taken disciplinary action against a number of licence and permit holders for not ensuring that the conditions of their licence or permit are complied with, for altering the boundaries of licensed premises without authority, and for not advising of changes in their situation. Compliance inspectors will be actively monitoring these issues when undertaking inspections. Gaming equipment storage and gaming bank accounts A Branch update detailing the obligations for gaming equipment storage and gaming bank accounts was sent on 11 August 2023 to venue operators. Quarterly licence fees for EGM venues On 3 September 2023, invoices for the next quarterly instalment of the venue licence fee will be sent to venue operators who operate EGMs. The fee is payable by 1 October 2023 For further information please contact us by email at gaming@treasury.tas.gov.au or licensing@treasury. tas.gov.au or by telephone on 6166 4040.
