SPANNING REQUIREMENTS For approved AU spans, refer to the SOTO span tables located under the “Code Evaluation & Stamped Documents” tab on the following webpage: https://au.trex.com/customer-support/ trex-owners/downloads/ . When specified, span considerations for unshaded or permanently shaded applications must be followed. Special Patterns W hen planning a unique pattern, you will need to adjust the framing to support the surface pattern. Many decks are designed to take advantage of angles, as shown below.

Adjust Joist Spanning to Accommodate Angled Decking Patterns

At a 30° angle, maximum joist spanning is 1/2 of the distance listed than perpendicular.

Perpendicular to joists.

At a 60° angle, maximum joist spanning is 50 mm less than perpendicular.

At a 45° angle, maximum joist spanning is 100 mm less than perpendicular.
