The Public Way of the Cross, Good Friday, April 6, is an ecumenical gathering of faith with clergy from several churches joining in a bilingual liturgy. He also was involved in efforts to help children of needy families in the Upper Canada district region. “I wanted to use this even to help kids, so I chose to use the triathlon to benefit Cham- pions for Kids,” stated Coombs. “The foundation is all about giving kids opportunities where they may not have had them before and I think this is a perfect way to help out.” The foundation helps children in need to enjoy organized sports and arts and their special cleanup project by April 14 to beeligibleforearly-birdprizes.Registration will continue afterwards until May 15. Cleanup reports presented by May 31 are also eligible to win a prize courtesy of one of the campaign sponsors. Cleanup campaign projects can help high school students collect their community service hours or serve as citizenship projects for youth groups and others. His name is not Tony Stark, and he doesn’t zoom around in red-and-gold armour, blasting bad guys with repulsor rays. But this summer DavidCoombs will become a superhero for children in need in Eastern Ontario when he competes in his first Ironman triathlon event. The superintendent for the Upper Ca- nada District School Board (UCDSB) is in training for the Ironman Mont Tremblant event Aug. 19 at the popular Québec ski resort.
