The mission of the NEPA-CIL is to improve and enhance the independent living options for people with disabilities. The client understood to be truly sustainable; the building would have to use less energy to operate (i.e. heating, cool- ing, lighting, power and water). Features: Building Enclosure: 1. Super tight building enclosure with advanced air sealing techniques and detailing. 2. Window area limited to 8% of building enclosure. 3. Spray foam insulation and window / door gap sealing. 4. High performance fiberglass framed windows with high visible light transmission. Heating, Cooling and Ventilating: 1. Dedicated Fresh air system with heat exchanger 2. Mitsubishi City Multi advanced heating and cooling systems for energy efficiency and control. 3. High efficiency natural gas fired hot water radiant slab Lighting. 1. Maximized natural day lighting with high perimeter win- dows and central sky light. White rubber roofing to reflect natural light into skylight / monitor. 2. High output florescent light fixtures with automatic dimming when sufficient natural light is present.

Following Hurricane Sandy, DMR assisted the Moonachie Board of Education recover after the District’s only school was flooded. Moonachie suffered widespread damage fol- lowing the storm, including the complete flooding of Robert L. Craig School which serves Kindergarten – Grade 8. DMR assisted the Board secure Temporary Occupancy Units, and is now overseeing interior renovations to the school. The district’s more than 250 students attended school out of dis- trict until resuming school functions in the Units. Portions of the damaged school are now occupied. Why was this particular job your favorite/most unusual? As DMR has served the Moonachie Board of Education since 2002, we were particularly proud to serve the district with this emergent need immediately following Hurricane Sandy. Within one day, DMR was able to receive approvals from the New Jersey Department of Education and New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for 36 modules, enough space for 24 classrooms plus administrative space, on the school’s existing field. Once the Units were occupied, DMR began interior renovations to the damaged school. This project was a favorite of DMR because it was of critical importance in helping a surrounding community return to a sense of normalcy following the storm’s devastating effects.

Designed to meet the style of existing building’s old word exterior. The Hollywood Golf Club’s Winter Clubhouse/Men’s Locker Room facility was designed to meet the architec- tural style and rich colors of the existing building’s old world exterior and national acclaimed lush golf course. The exterior was designed to expand and enhance the classic buildings character and bungalow façade without impact on its personal scale. The interior included building a new steel structure inside of a 100 year Arts & Crafts style building. While maintaining the design of an upscale country club with the elegance of an earlier time, Aztec created a new timeless interior reflecting the character of old that will with- stand the test of time. It was critical to preserve the historic beauty and charm in its original form while at the same time being able to create a welcoming interior for its members and guests alike. For this it has become a favorite of Aztec with the creative use of old and new construction, blending of old and new design elements and materials and the subtle weaving in of today’s technology and equipment.
