Foreign School is maintained for children of missionaries in Korea, China, Manchu- kuo, and Japan, with some business people’s children. We have 115 live-wire American and British youngsters. It really is a pro cess of training for world leadership. I am teaching English, Bible, and typing in the high school, and am also Scoutmaster for thirty-six fine Boy Scouts of America. Once a week I have an English Bible class for Korean young men who understand English.” George R. Farmersville. During the summer, Mr. Reigart supplied in the Methodist Church South, the First Methodist Church, and the Presbyterian Church in Visalia, Calif. He writes: “The Lord has answered our prayer in a wonderful way. But ours is a mighty big job, so please pray for the work.” In a letter to the fellow members of the class of 1932, Raymond Chandler, Pyeng- ,-yang Foreign School, Pyengyang, Korea, begins as follows: “Just as I have been thinking about writing this letter, the words of our class song, ‘Called to Reveal Christ,’ have been going through my mind. Soon after my arrival in Korea in September of 1932, it was sung as a quartet in our For eign Church service here in Pyengyang, and just a few days ago while I was visiting in Peiping, China, I heard of a new mis sionary to China who had been visiting in our station at that time, and who had been so struck by its sentiment, that she copied some of the words, but didn’t know the title. Today, again, it is to be used as a quartet number in the foreign service here, where the members of the station, and the students of our Foreign School meet for worship. It is my privilege to be a mem ber of the quartet, and every time I sing or hear the class song, it means new in spiration for things ahead.” Regarding his own work, Mr. Chandler adds: “The

Alumni News W il l ia m R. (’22) and Mrs. Hun- ary Union, send the following message through the Mission’s official organ, the Amazon Valley Indian: “One of our greatest joys is to see the children of .our older believers coming out and asking for baptism, and entering into the work of the gospel. A few weeks ago, we held a cot tage meeting in one of the women’s houses. The picture roll was hung from a knot in the wall, and close attention was given to the message and its application. I wish you could have looked into those faces as I did that day. There were young girls who know little of anything besides Chris tian parents and Christian homes, contrast ed with poor girls who come from entirely unbelieving homes; and there were women who have spent a large part of their lives in sin, now saved and bringing up their little children to love the Lord. Then there was old Mamie, once a witch doctor, now a faithful believer, telling us, ‘My heart is clean.’ Most of these women and girls are saved and precious in the sight of the Lord, but they have spiritual problems and difficulties, even as you and I. .The young boys are finding great temptation in drink. We ask your prayers for these younger boys, that they may learn to resist Satan in the hour of temptation in the power of the Holy Spirit.” K. Owen White, ’22, received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky., last May. His thesis subject was “The Doctrine of God in Amos with Its Implications.” Hugh R. Peterson, ^ ( .re ceived the degree of Th. M. at the same commencement exercises. While attend ing. the seminary at Louisville, Dr. White has for the past three years taught l&jgp; assistant, being a Fellow in Hebrew of tfri. “f college. Friends ¿in Los Angeles had tHfe SL privilege of hearing him at the Temple Baptist Church on Sunday, August 2o. when he was guest, preacher at both the morning and evening services. Dr. and Mrs. White (Pearl Woodworth, ’25) ar ranged to leave immediately for Gaines ville, Ga., where Dr. White planned to open his pastorate at the Central Baptist Church there with a two-weeks’ evangelistic cam paign. Mabel S. Clark, ’29, Toronto, Ont., Can., is at home with her invalid mother. "As my needs have increased,” she writes, “so has the Lord’s grace been more abundant. It is in the difficult places that we learn more of His great love and mercy. Then we praise Him for the discipline.” Alice Foote, ’32, has been working in an office in Modesto, Calif. She has had many opportunities to contact young peo ple, including the boys and girls of the.Sj. Faith Home for Children. In teaching a " midweek young people’s Bible class, she used Dr. Bauman’s Institute lectures on prophecy as a basis of the study. Richard K. Reigart, ’30, has been ap pointed pastor of the Farmersville Commu nity Methodist Church, Farmersville, Calif. He was pastor of the Yountville Union Church for two years prior to his going to
