minister the whole distressing situation. He interrupted her story. “Pasadena!” he exclaimed. “Do you realize that you will be right next door to Los Angeles, and that the finest Bible Insti tute on the Pacific Coast is located there?” Then, softly spoken, came the gentle word: “You know, there is always Romans 8:28.” And the reproof and encouragement of those words lived with her during the days which followed. They gripped her heart now, as she sat, spell bound in amazed delight, among rows and rows of other students in one of the Institute’s auditoriums. “A call to thanksgiving” ! The student from Switzerland was hearing the message as in

a dream. She was feeling again the thrill that came with the first knowledge that “there is always Romans 8 :28.” She was wonder ing why she or any one else should ever doubt the Lord when He always leads in such mar velous ways. Other members of that audience were thinking similar thoughts, and in their hearts

Was there a call •to consecration ? This young man had heard it, and God had marked the sincerity of his response. Not yet able to enroll as a resident student, the Syrian musician is trusting his Lord, and studying while he waits. Profoundly moved by the message of the Word, the audience was ready for the speaker’s third point. 3. There Is a Call to Consecration Comparatively recently, a gifted young Syrian, who had spent more than ten years trying to run away from the will of God, returned, like the prodigal, to the Father’s waiting arms. Spiritually barren years this young man had spent, traveling around the world from port to port, playing in ships’ orchestras and in other groups, squandering his money as fast as it was earned, ever trying to forget that one day he had given his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ, and that he was “bought with a price.” But he could not forget, for there was a little mother who “with strong crying and tears,” prayed daily that her boy would devote his talents to the Lord. At last he yielded—penitently, willingly, fully— and the One who spoke peace to his heart brought to his mind also the thought of training at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. He would go! He would sever his connections with the godless musicians in whose company he had made good money. He would take all he had—a gold-embroidered Mandarin robe, a rare jewel, a collection of swords and belts and leather things—all relics of his days abroad—and he would go to Los Angeles, in the hope that he might find there a market for his treasures, a means of supporting himself while he pursued his study of the long-neglected Word.
