ends of the original “U.” This will make a cross. ^The “I” should be 13% inches high, the stem 1 inch wide, and the top and bottom bars 4 inches wide and 1 inch high. Fold down 2% inches from the top. Make another fold 4 11/16 inches from the bottom. Thus the two bars will come together, making a cross. Unfold both letters before the lesson begins.) - ~ . LESSON:, Looking at this “1” and “ U,” it is difficult to see how they could' ever be one as' Christ prayed, “Neither pray I for these, alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they may all be one” (John 17:20, 21). The “I” is so tall and slim, and the ‘
flesh,” an entity. Further, He spoke of the continuity of that entity (v. 6). God had made of the twain “one flesh.” “What therefore God hath j o i n e d together, let not man put, asunder” was the final conclusion. In these modern days, with many people denying their creation by God, and being indifferent to the character of marriage, and showing unbelief of the fact that God joins “twain” into one, the relationship is prostituted into a refined condition^of adultery;: But for the Christian, the Lord Jesus Christ taught that the true founda tion of a Christian home is found in the God-ordained marriage relation-' ship of one man and one woman. II. T he S e r vic e o f t h e C h r is t ia n H o m e ( L k . 10:38-42) In the Christian -home, -there will be action for the Lord. Both Martha and Mary_ were serving Him. He was the object of their concern, and both of them desired to please Him. Martha complained -that Mary “hath left me to serve alone.” Evidently Mary had been helping Martha, had done all -that was necessary, and then “sat at Jesus’ feet.” But Martha continued to be busy with preparations to en tertain their Guest. In the Christian home, there will be adoration of the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Being seemingly idle in comparison with busy Martha, Mary really was showing that to learn from Jesus is better than to work for Him. Moreover, there always will be ap proval from Him in the Christian § home. Both of these women were com mended by Jesus. His statement, “Thou art careful and troubled about many things,” recognized Martha’s goodness and hospitality—but it indicated that she did too much. His words, “Mary hath, chosen that good part” appraised the spiritual wisdom of the other sister. Mary gave herself while Martha gave her service. Mary was occupied with the person of the Lord and found delight, while Martha was busy only with service for Him and found distress because of its incompleteness. Mary received from Him; Martha sought to provide for Him. Martha could even go so far as to rebuke • Jesus for not sending Mary back to the kitchen. The Lord needs not to be told what is fitting for any of His disciples. III. > T h e I n f lu e nc e of th e C h r istian H ome (2 T im . 1:3-6) Timothy must have been very dear to the Apostle Paul who not only , prayed for him, but who was also “night and day longing to see” him (vs. 3, 4; R. V.).
OBJECTS: A capital “I” and a capital “U,” made of white paper, (The “U” is 11 inches wide and 8% inches high. The side and bottom bars are 1 inch wide, and the comers at the base are square, rather than curved. Fold the right side in 1 inch from the outside, which will be just inside the upright bar. Fold in again 2% inches farther—measuring from the • outside folded edge—which will bring the upright bar to the center. Follow the same procedure with the left side. This should bring the two side bars to overlap a t .the center, giving the appearance of a capital “T” upside down. F o l d the stem ‘of the “T” toward you, 6% inches from the free

• Matthew 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and femâje, 5 And said, For this cause shall à man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 8 Wherefore thèÿ are no m<5re twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath Joined together, let, not man put asunder. Luke 10:3$ Now It came tp pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain vil lager and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered a b o u t much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her there fore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful; and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. 2 Timothy 1:3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure con science, that without ceasing I have re membrance of thee in my prayers night and day; 4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of*, thy tears, that I may be filled with Joy; 5 When I call to remembrance the un feigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first In thy grandmother Lois, and t h y mother Eunice; and 1 am persuaded that in thee also; 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance, that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
