Chef's Corner Beck Wow—what an amazing three months our kitchen has had! We kicked things off with our very first scoreboard for the Ekka celebrations, which was
a hit with everyone. Our Mad Hatter Morning Tea was another highlight, where we got creative and turned cakes into high-heel shoes—something that’s been a real talking point ever since. As we move out of winter and into the warmer months, the residents and I are working together on a fresh summer menu, with more salads included at their request. We’re also very excited to announce that on October 9th we’ll be hosting a Maggie Beer Longest Lunch in the courtyard. For those who don’t know, our kitchen has been part of the Maggie Beer program, using her specially designed recipes in collaboration with her team. Even more exciting—we’re in the running to have Maggie Beer herself visit our facility! Here at Woodford, our kitchen team takes great pride in our meals and in listening to residents’ feedback. Our door is always open, and residents know they can stop by for a chat anytime. Looking ahead, we’ve got plenty of fun events on the calendar: September – Pirate Day High Tea October – Maggie Beer Longest Lunch & Halloween “spooky cakes” November – Cup Day special race-day meals It’s shaping up to be a busy and exciting season in the kitchen, and we can’t wait to share it all with you!
Regards, Chef Beck
