Key Focus: To Fully Train & Support UNT Graduates Entering Teaching careers
• Inaugural Teacher Induction, summer 2024 | Two-day intensive professional development event offering support, guidance and orientation for beginning teachers during the transition into their first teaching position(s). The second annual Teacher Induction event will be held July 24-25 at UNT. • Certification Exams | Street Funds were foundational in aiding student success in completing their certification exams before graduation (up 64% over the previous year - an impressive return on investment. • Inaugural Pinning Ceremony, fall graduating class | Ceremonial tradition that welcomes graduates into the teaching profession. Students invited family members to attend and many parents spoke at the event, sharing their gratitude for the support their children received. The spring pinning ceremony was held May 6. • There were 33 residency students between the Denton and Dallas school districts. Of those, 29 were awarded two-year teaching contracts and will begin their new careers in August. For Denton, this demonstrates two years of success and, while finding funding is always a struggle, they have committed to continue their support of this project. Paving the Way for Student Success At the University of North Texas, we believe in the power of education to shape futures and build communities. We are deeply grateful for your partnership as, together, we continue to inspire and empower the next generation of thinkers, creators and educators. Thank you for being champions of UNT!
