“My mother’s journey with cancer taught me compassion and resilience, as well as how to maintain a positive attitude when facing adversity. These are important skills that I use daily and I hope to impart to my students as they prepare to become teachers.”
My name is Louanne Greer and I am a recipient of the Agnes Lucille Craft Greene Memorial Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year. It is an honor to be selected to receive this award. I would like to thank the Greene Family Foundation and the donors for their contributions toward furthering my education. is scholarship is important to me for several reasons. It will help nance my Ph.D. and further my academic career, allowing me to focus more on my research and course work as I pursue my dream of educating and preparing future music teachers. It also honors my mother, who is a champion of education, and it honors my caretaking of her over the years. She is a three-time cancer survivor and I was her primary caretaker
through her treatments and associated hospitalizations.
