Casella, Goodwill Honored For Collaboration The New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility (NHBSR) awarded Casella Waste Systems Inc., Rutland, Ver- mont, and Gorham, Maine-based Goodwill Northern New England the 2020 NHBSR Partnership for Innovation Award at its annual spring conference.The award recognizes Casella and Goodwill’s Job Connection program, which encourages people in New England to act more sustainably while also helping people who have significant barriers to employment get and keep jobs. Casella helped fund Job Connection’s expansion into Vermont. Job Connection helps clients over- come past addiction, long-term poverty, mental health issues and other obstacles keeping them from employment. The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on a na- tional initiative to address inequality of opportunity. NWRA joined the U.S. Chamber’s national town hall event on June 25 where business and community leaders discussed concrete actions that can be taken by government and the private sector to address inequality through education, em- ployment, entrepreneurship and criminal justice reform.As a partner on this important initiative,NWRA plans to host local and industry dialogues to further the discussion.
