The Construction & Demolition Recycling Association’s (CDRA’s) Risk Management Committee is sponsoring a we- binar on how recyclers can mitigate insurance costs through participation in captive insurance programs. The webinar will discuss the state of the insurance market, explain captive insurance programs, define captive readi- ness and outline ways attendees can better understand their potential to manage insurance costs. The webinar, entitled Managing the Hard Insurance Market—Explaining Captive Insurance Options will be broadcast July 16 at 12:00-1:00 p.m. CST. SERI Releases Latest R2 Standard SERI (Sustainable Electronics Recycling International), Hastings,Minnesota, has launched the latest R2 Standard for electronics reuse and recycling, R2v3. The organization said R2v3 incorporates its experience gained from more than a decade auditing and implementing the R2 Standard and reflects changes in the electronics land- scape, customer demands and the regulatory environment. Many of the changes to the standard are a result of feedback submitted by customers, members of the industry and the public. The new R2v3 Standard is available for download from the newly launched website, https://seriR2.org . In addition to offering the standard for download, the new site provides a timeline for R2v3 as well as a FAQ section and an opportuni- ty to register for a free intro to R2v3 webinar. Renewi Updates Recycling Goals For 2025 U.K.-based Renewi, an international waste management company, plans to increase its recycling rate to 75 percent by 2025. The company currently has a recycling rate of about 64.7 percent.The company has also announced goals to reduce the CO2 impact of its collection activities in The Nether- lands and Belgium by 2025. Over the past year, Renewi recycled a greater percentage of the waste than it handled, increasing its recycling and recovery rate to 90.8 percent. SWANA Collecting Mask Orders The SolidWaste Association of North America (SWANA) is collecting orders for cloth face coverings on behalf of the entire U.S. solid waste and recycling industry. The face coverings are free to companies and agencies in the industry for essential critical infrastructure workers. A minimum order of a single box containing 500 face coverings is required and all orders must be placed before July 17.
