therapeutic and has been surfing for over 25 years. However, with all the rain and water pollution we experienced last year, Asi left the waves for the hills and took up hiking. If you’re an avid hiker, you might just stumble across Asi while trekking across one of the trails in our area! Asi also possesses some amazing skills. She’s bilingual and can speak Farsi, French, some Spanish, and English. If you were a fan of “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,” you may have seen Asi on an episode years ago, where she demonstrated her bird- calling abilities! Asi is a vital part of the team here at Alborzi Orthodontics, and we couldn’t be happier to work alongside her. We know the patients love her, too! Be sure to stop and say hi to her the next time you come by the office!

One member of our team who continues to go above and beyond to provide exceptional care to our patients is our treatment coordinator, Asi. Asi hasn’t always worked in the world of orthodontics. Before 9/11, Asi worked with her brother in the luggage manufacturing industry. After the travel industry took a hit, she started looking for something new
our patients with whatever they may need. She enjoys seeing patients gain renewed
confidence after undergoing orthodontic treatment. Too many individuals in our community are afraid to smile because of their teeth; Asi never wants anyone to feel that way!

This comforting risotto recipe is perfect for a cold night. BUTTERNUT SQUASH RISOTTO Ingredients • 2 cups butternut squash, cubed • 4 tbsp olive oil, divided • 2 cups sliced leeks • 4 garlic cloves, chopped • 8 sage leaves • 1 cup Arborio rice
• 1/2 tsp salt • 1/4 tsp pepper • 1/2 tsp nutmeg • 5 cups veggie or chicken stock • 2 to 3 handfuls spinach • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Directions 1. Preheat oven to 400 F. On a parchment-lined sheet pan, toss squash with 2 tbsp olive oil. Roast until tender (30 minutes) and set aside. 2. In a Dutch oven, heat 2 tbsp olive oil over medium heat and add leeks. Sauté until tender, then add garlic and sage. Sauté for 2 more minutes. 3. Add rice and sauté for 1 minute, stirring. Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Add 1–2 cups of stock to cover the rice and bring to a simmer. Cook until the liquid is absorbed. Continue to add broth 1 cup at a time, stirring occasionally until rice is plump (20 minutes). Stir in spinach, roasted squash, and Parmesan cheese.
