N ORTH BAY CREDIT UNION

By Jessie De La O

W hat differentiates North Bay Credit Union from other financial institutions is that it’s gone an extra step further in providing additional services to benefit its members. And despite how small North Bay Credit Union is, its stature in customer service and beyond is huge. North Bay Credit Union has 42 employees and four locations: Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park and Sonoma. Established in 1948, NBCU is the oldest credit union in Sonoma County, offering affordable banking and local financing. Since 2017, the credit union has provided cannabis banking to members who own cannabis businesses, and it’s proved to be a success for the financial institution. “We’re taking on these niche markets that other financial institutions are not serving because, as a small credit union, we have to establish ourselves in other ways than try to compete against the larger financial institutions in the area on standard checking, savings products and those kinds of things,” says Chris Call, CEO at NBCU. Taking unconventional approaches in banking has helped North Bay Credit Union win the honor of Best Credit Union in NorthBay biz’s 2025 readers’ poll. Call says he and his staff are honored at having been selected for the award. “We think it’s great that our constituents think we’re doing a good job and

it’s pleasing to know that our efforts are being recognized,” says Call. “I know the culture that we try to promote here at the credit union is one of superior customer service and we want to stand apart from other financial institutions by really taking a personal interest in our members.” v northbaycu.com
