T he Humane Society of Sonoma County is a local nonprofit The nonprofit was founded in 1931 and has two campuses, in Santa Rosa and Healdsburg. Its focus is on adopting out dogs, cats, rabbits and small companion animals, like guinea pigs. With 70 staff members and 300 volunteers, the organization’s Executive Director Neville Hormuz says the Humane Society’s mission is to save lives and enhance the well-being of pets and their people with kindness, innovation and leadership. According to Neville, the organization is expanding its Community Action Team initiatives, increasing partnerships with local human services organizations to distribute pet food and supplies, ensuring that pets in need receive essential resources and to free their guardians from that worry so they can attend to their own well-being. organization that takes on the task of temporarily caring for pets, including providing several services that will benefit not only the pets, but the people who adopt them.
