Recreating Magic: The Wizarding World Returns
It’s happening! 15 years after the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2, Harry, Ron and Hermione will return to the big screen in 2027 in an HBO remake of Harry Potter. It will stream as a TV series, with each season of the show detailing one book in the series.
The series will be completely based on the original books and not a new concept.
Sadly, it has been confirmed that there will be completely new actors, and Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint will not be returning to the screen to act.
It was decided to make this, as spin-offs, such as ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and ‘Hogwarts Legacy’, did extremely well, and there was a large amount of customers. Also, CGI has improved a ton since 2001, and the producers think it can be way more realistic. In September 2024, the official Harry Potter Instagram account published a UK open casting call. They mentioned they are looking for children aged 9-11 as of April 2025 who reside in the UK/Ireland.
Auditioning has now closed, but HBO has yet to announce the cast. So what do you think? Is this a spellbinding hit or a big flop? Aadi Jain
