College of Rock

Greetings readers, Sam Di Marino reporting to you about my experience performing at the College of Rock! What is the College of Rock? The college of rock is a concert where DC students get the opportunity to play rock music live on stage. Each year group formed bands, and played their music in front of an audience of teachers and students. Lasting just over two hours, there were lots of fantastic performances from very talented musicians I played drums in the year 7 band, which was formed in the Rock and Pop Project at the start of the school year. So how did it go? The simple answer to that question is amazingly well.This was one of the most enjoyable and interesting musical experiences that I personally have ever had. It takes a lot of courage to perform live in front of people! It gave me a real sense of pride (which is never a bad thing!) and being part of a band has given me confidence. It’s definitely made me a better drummer, and playing with other people has helped me improve in ways I hadn’t expected! Should you do it? I highly recommend for you to take part in the Rock and Pop project and the College of Rock concert when it next comes up. If you play any instruments commonly associated with rock songs (e.g. drums, guitars, etc...) or enjoy singing please come along. If you don’t play an instrument? Just watch the performance instead!
