EMBRACE A YEAR-ROUND GOAL-SETTING MINDSET BEYOND NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS
As the saying goes, “The days are long, but the years are short,” and I certainly feel that way. When I look back over the last 12 months, all I have to say is, “Wow, what a year. It feels like it flew by!” I hope you were able to spend some time with family and friends over the holidays. The older I get, the more I realize how important quality time is with the ones I love. At the start of every year, many people turn their attention to setting goals. For me, though, setting goals is a year- round thing. I think goals are important, big or small, so I don’t end up wandering aimlessly through the year. I need a destination to strive for.
Typically, I set daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual goals and try to think of something for each area of my life: personal, physical fitness, financial, and spiritual. I keep a short list of goals on a sticky note at the bottom of my computer monitor so I see them daily. This keeps my goals top of mind, so I stay focused on what I need to accomplish. We have some lofty goals for the law firm this year, I won’t lie. We are looking forward to giving even more families the help and support they need to move forward after being injured. We plan to make our community a safer place by seeking justice for those who have been wronged. Going into 2024, I hope you set some goals for yourself. Right now is the best time to think about what you want to get out of the year for yourself, your family, and even your career. So, whatever your goals may be, here’s to crushing them, and I hope 2024 is your best year ever!

THINK BEFORE YOU POST
Now that we’ve entered 2024, it’s the perfect time to refresh and rejuvenate your living space. Decluttering, cleaning, and reorganizing can give your home a fresh start and contribute to a sense of mental clarity and productivity. Here are five cleaning and organizational hacks to kick-start your new year. Use the 15-minute rule. One of the simplest and most effective organizational hacks is to spend just 15 minutes every day decluttering a different area of your home. Whether it’s a drawer, shelf, or closet, the consistent effort will add up and help you maintain a clutter- free space throughout the year. Create a cleaning schedule. Establish a weekly or monthly cleaning schedule to ensure all areas of your home are consistently maintained. Having a plan in place will make it easier to stay on top of chores and prevent them from piling up. Follow the ‘one in, one out’ rule. For every new item you bring into your home, consider getting rid of one item. This rule helps you avoid having too much “stuff” and is a terrific system if you have the discipline to keep up with it (that second part can be tricky)! Utilize deep-cleaning hacks. Did you know that baking soda and vinegar are a dynamic duo when it comes to cleaning various surfaces in your home? Baking soda is a gentle abrasive cleaner, while vinegar is a natural disinfectant. Mixing them is a great way to clean ovens, sinks and drains, and even grout. Another often-neglected area is the inside of your microwave, but it can be easy to clean — with steam! Simply fill a microwave-safe bowl with water and a few slices of lemon and microwave it for a few minutes. The steam will help loosen grime and make it easier to wipe away with a cloth. Invest in storage solutions. Efficient storage solutions, such as bins, shelves, and drawer dividers, can help you maximize your space and keep everything organized. Under-bed storage containers are great for organizing seasonal items, and wall-mounted shelves are ideal for displaying keepsakes and collectibles. By implementing these cleaning and organizational hacks, you can create a more peaceful and efficient living space that sets a positive tone for the entire year. The keys are to start small and stay consistent to enjoy the benefits of a well-organized and clutter-free home. SIMPLE HACKS FOR A WELL-ORGANIZED AND CLUTTER-FREE HOME
Social media has become an important part of our daily lives. We use it to share our thoughts, feelings, and achievements with friends and family. However, we should be careful about what we share online, especially if we’re involved in a personal injury case — sometimes, sharing too much information can have unintended consequences. The Pitfalls of Oversharing Online After an accident, people often use social media to share their experiences or get support. But they might not realize that their post on social media can be used as evidence in a personal injury case. Insurance companies and lawyers from the other side will often look at your social media profiles to find information that can be used against you in court. What NOT to Post It’s important to be careful about what you post on social media after an accident. So, even if your friends ask you questions, avoid sharing anything online about the accident, injuries, or people involved. And remember, photos can also be used in court, so try not to post any pictures that could be taken out of context. For example, a photo of you having fun with friends could be used to argue that your injuries aren’t as severe as you claim. It’s best to avoid posting at all during your case, and if you’re tagged in any photos, remove the tags or make sure your privacy settings are set to “only me.” What if you’ve already posted something online about your injury before contacting an attorney? First and foremost, DO NOT delete what you’ve posted, as doing so can reflect negatively on you in front of a judge or jury. If you’ve been injured and have talked about it on social media before consulting with a lawyer, it’s important to let your lawyer know about it as soon as possible. Your lawyer can review what you posted and help you understand how it might affect your case. Plus, talking to your lawyer about what you’ve said online can help you avoid any potential mistakes and ensure you’re presenting the best possible case in court. At Aulsbrook Law Firm, we have extensive experience dealing with social media and injury cases, so no matter your circumstances, we can work with you to come up with a plan to protect your rights! Be a Digital Role Model! 7 Essential Tips for Responsible Social Media Citizenship
Combat Disinformation Remember that not everything you read is accurate, and sometimes, people share things that aren’t true in order to cause problems. This can make it hard to know what’s really happening. So, to help keep things straight, it’s a good idea to check if the information is correct before you share it with others. That way, we can all be sure we’re passing along reliable sources and not spreading false information. Practice Digital Empathy Don’t forget that real people are on the other side of the screen, so before you hit the “send” button, think about how your words or actions might make others feel. If you see any inappropriate behavior while using social media, feel free to report it and create a safer online environment for everyone!
As we mentioned on Page 2, social media has become a crucial part of our lives. It offers us different ways to connect with people, share information, and express ourselves. However, using social media comes with great responsibility. Just like how we try to be good citizens in our physical communities, we must also be mindful of our actions when using social media. So, to become a responsible digital “citizen,” keep these five things in mind while online to stay safe and use social media in a positive way. Be Respectful When you interact with others online, try to treat them with the same respect and kindness you would in person. This means being open to different opinions and perspectives, even if they don’t match
your own. Also, avoid using language that discriminates against people, and be willing to listen to what others say. Remember, everyone deserves to be treated with respect, both online and offline. Think Twice Before You Post Before posting anything online, think about how it might affect others. Always make sure that whatever you share is accurate and respectful, and keep in mind that once something is posted, it can be challenging to remove it entirely from the internet. Protect Your Privacy To keep your personal information safe, make sure to adjust the privacy settings on your social media accounts and use caution when sharing sensitive information, especially your location or contact details.

Committing a crime will never be a get-rich-quick scheme or a successful career path, but we’ve had plenty of would-be criminals who had to learn that lesson the hard way!
as he collected coils of copper and prepared to make off with them, he was instantly jolted with an estimated 22,000 volts of electricity, and around 400 homes were left without power. He miraculously managed to survive, though with severe burns and a damaged skull, and was given 12 months of community service. Another man, Nicholas Mark, entered a Pennsylvania pizzeria looking for work, but he found something else instead. A tip jar containing over $200 caught his eye, so after filling out the application, Mark left. A few hours later, he returned, snatched the tip jar, and ran out of the restaurant. However, his getaway was short-lived, as his completed application had provided his real name and address. Plus, he left behind a backpack that verified his identity, so he was eventually caught by police. Finally, Alberto Saavedra Lopez demonstrated why you can’t go back home to the scene of your crime. While living in Cottonwood, Arizona, he stole $5,000 from the bank where he worked. For two years, he got away with it by moving to Phoenix. In time, however, he moved back to Cottonwood and applied for a new job — at the local police station. But, as he applied to become a dispatcher, officials did a background check, discovering he was an at-large suspect in the theft. So, when he showed up for his job interview, they greeted him with handcuffs.
One example is James Sorby, a Scottish man who decided he wanted to cash in
on the rising price of copper. As he thought about how to get his hands on the metal prized for its ability to conduct electricity, he decided it would be a good idea to go right to the source, so he targeted a local power plant in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.
As he started to carry out his mission, he forgot he was in a truly electric environment. He ignored the signs warning of the dangerous high-voltage lines in the plant. But
